At Utau-Neko, our first priority is to breed oriental shorthairs that make healthy lifelong companions.
Our primary color interest is biciolor.
However, we often have other patterns in our litters.
It is our hope that when you adopt a kitten from us, it will find a place as part of your family.
He/She will be an emotional comanion that is there for you.
Your Utau-Neko Oriental Shorthair will charm your family and friends.
All of our kittens come spayed/neutered, microchipped and registered with AKC CAR, vaccinated, and with a health guarantee.
Please email us if you would like to see a sample contract.
I would love to say something profound like "my cats are living
artwork".
Fact of the matter is that my cats are total nuts. They are
sweet, they are inquisitve, they know no strangers.
They will press
send while you are in the middle of that important email to your boss.
They seem to have intelligence factors that range from total goober to
mad scientist.
I find that cats, like people, can have pretty diverse personalities.
This is definitely true in my house.
My cats are very social.
They know no strangers.
When somebody comes in the house, they run up to greet them.
When somebody sits down, they wind up with at least one cat in their lap.
Trey will come over, stand on his hind legs, stretch as tall as he can, and pat you until he gets your full attention.
I guess the best way to describe their need for attention is that my Oriental Shorthairs are "violently affectionate".
If you are considering an Oriental Shorthair for a pet, keep in mind that they are very loving and devoted.
They are the ultimate lap cat.
To that extent, they want a human that they can actively share their affection with.
They require quite a bit of attention from their humans.
Some more than others, but in general, they want to be with their family.
A friend of mine who speaks Japanese suggested Utau-Neko (pronounced oo-ta-oo n-ee-ko) for my cattery name.
It means Singing Cat in Japanese.
At least, I really hope that is what it means.
We are very proud to have had pictures of our cats featured in Cat Fancy Magazine and two books. We owe a big thanks to our photographer, our friend, and a friend of all cats, Fiona Green (http://www.fionagreenphotography.com/).
